Apple is supposed to launch the iphone in Asia during the year 2008. So far, we haven’t heard anything about the exact date of launch. Rumors indicate that Apple is adding 3G capabilities to iphone before they target the Asian market.
Despite of this delay from Apple, iphone is available in most of the major Asian countries like Singapore, India, Malaysia and Thailand. These illegal iphones are mostly smuggled from USA. Reports shows that in Thailand alone 16000 thousands iphones are already in use. If you go to the cell phone center in MBK, which is a popular mall in Bangkok you can see plenty of shops displaying signboards which indicate that they are selling iphones and accessories. There are even shops providing services like unlocking iphones and loading iphone softwares and games other than the ones from apple.
